Jose Cuervo recently introduced the limited edition of Reserva de la Familia with the unique wooden packaging, designed by a Mexican artist, Louiz Zarate.
He was born in Santa Catarina Cuanana, a little town in Tlaxiaco, Oazaca in 1951. He studied painting in the National School of Superior Arts in Paris. Since 1970 his works were exhibited in more than 30 galleries around the world. He now is a member of Escuela de Oaxaca (School of Oaxaca) with many recognised Mexican artists such as Rufino Tamayo, Francisco Toledo, Sergio Hernandez and Rodoflo Morales.
The theme of the design was Tinta Savia y Espinas, meaning ink, sap and thorns. Icons and images on the wooden box represent the history and family heritage of the Jose Cuervo brand. "Reserva de la Familia is really the soul of Jose Cuervo because it is a very personal vintage for the family," told Francisco Hajnal, Jose Cuervo's master tequilero.
Only 18,000 bottles are produced each year, Reserva de la Familia is aged in new French and American oak barrels for the result of best combination of bouquet and flavour of the wood. This ultra-premium bottle is sold around $125 in the United States.
Jose Cuervo is the largest tequila producer in the world. Their portfolio includes the brands such as the traditional Gold, Jose Cuervo Tradicional and Jose Cuervo Anejo.
