April, 2002 - Glenrothes 1989 Vintage arrived in a translucent frosted bottle container with simple modern design. This outstanding modern design appeals to both new generation drinkers and existing Scotch lovers.
Being able to see what's inside works well for youngster drinkers and the people who are just getting into Scotch, "because they want to see what they are getting into," said Glenrothes' brand marketing manager at theWhiskyFest in New York.
Inside the container, the bottle is also well designed with simplicity. The handcrafted-looking label carries the date of distillation and the year of bottling.
This vintage bottle is reasonably sold around $50. "We didn't want our product to end up unopened. We really want people to appreciate the taste," said a marketer of Glenrothes.
This whisky is distilled and bottled in the Speyside region of Scotland where, many other single malts are produced, such as the Macallan, Glenfiddech, Glenlivet etc... The ingredients of all single malt whiskies are the same barley, yeast and water yet the resulting whiskies taste so different due to many facts during the whisky making process such as the water source, the shape of the pot stills or the length of maturation in cask.
